Podcash was a social crowdfunding platform for small businesses. Backers contributed to shared pools, or pods, and could participate in more than one. Each pod gave businesses access to a revolving line of deal credit. As deals were repaid, the money returned to the pod and could fund another.
The model drew from community lending systems already used where formal loans are difficult to access. We wanted to bring that structure online for businesses that could be profitable and durable without becoming venture-scale.
My cofounder and I eventually realized we were not the right people to build it.
